Lightning Thief
—Review by Charlie
The Lightning Thief is about Percy, the son of Poseiden. Zeus thought he stole a lightning bolt, but it was someone else. His mom got kidnapped by a Minotaur. He went to New York City to go to the gods. And he was told not to go into the air. He rescued his mom, gave back the cylinder (the bolt) and survived the battle. I think it was a good book and others should read it.

Leven has to stop a war in Foo, that might destroy hope and imagination for reality.

The White Mountains
—Review by A. Koehler
This book is all about action-adventure as well as science fiction. It is about a boy named Will. The Tripods have been ruling the world for over one hundred years. All humans have been Capped ever since. They don't worry about the Tripods, and they don't wonder if they really are really, really, really tall machines or if there are beings inside it from another world. A human gets Capped every time they turn 14 years old. It is a symbol of adulthood. Will's cousin Jack is going to be Capped that upcoming week. The Capping ceremony came. A Tripod came and took Jack up inside to be Capped. When Jack has returned, he is acting strange. He is acting like an adult, but with almost a whole other personality. A little while later, a Vagrant (a person with a Cap that hasn't worked properly) shows up and tells Will that the Tripods are controlling men through the Caps so that the idea of a rebellion doesn't ever come up. Will's only hope is to get to take a very long and dangerous journey to the White Mountains where men walk free without Caps. If you love action adventure as well as science fiction, this is the perfect book for you!

Nobody's Princess

This book is about a young princess named Helen. She hates sewing and she has no plans for marriage. She wants to fight with her brothers.

Amelia Earhart
—Review by T. Baggett
She started out as a little girl. Her name was Amelia Earhart. Back in the day little girls weren't allowed to do what the boys use to do. Girls had to act proper and always wear dresses. But Amelia's parents didn't believe in that, they believed that girls should do what boys did, so Amelia and her sister got to do what boys did and they didnt even have to wear dresses.
Amelia would go out in her backyard and play baseball, football, basketball, and by the end of the day she would be all muddy.
One day Amelia and her sister got tired of playing with only them two. So they went around the corner and found two little girls who loved to play with them.
They used to play every game that was invented.
One day Amelia wanted to build a play house and she did build one and it was a success.
But another day came and she went to the state fair and she saw a airplane in the sky and at that very moment she new that she wanted to ride an airplaine, and there was no doubt about it.
She got to make an airplane and she became a big success.

The Princess and the Bear
—Review by H. Luzitano
The Princess and the Bear is about magic. People turn into animals. The bear and the hound fall in love at first. The hound then finds Prince George. Prince George tells a story about Tors where he gets attacked by a wolf. The wolf joins him so they change bodies. The man changes into a wolf and the wolf changes into a man. Then Frant was telling a story about his father being proud of his magic.

Frederica
—Review by A. Goalen
This book is well written. It has a well brought up plot. It is about this woman who asks this man named Alverstoke to take her in and act as a cousin. So he tells everyone that he is Frederica's family's guardian for their father died and he owed him a debt and this is a good way to pay that debt. The story was written in Columbi, 1965. It is kind of hard to understand at times but when you just keep reading, it gets easier to understand. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes romance novels.

Holes
—Review by C. L.
It is a cool book. I think it is. I saw the movie, too. Stanley stole shoes that were supposed to be sold to help homeless people. He didn't really steal them, but he got caught with them and had to go to court. He had the choice of jail or camp. It has some good characters in it like X-Ray, ZIgzag, Armpit, Magnet and Squid. His best friend ended up being Zero. They end up helping each other out. Zero helped Stanley dig and Stanley helped him learn to read. You have to read the rest of the book to find out what happens.

Georgette Heyer Frederica
—Review by A. Goalen
This book is a great romance book. It has some old writing language that is hard to understand at times but it really is a great romance. It is about the eminently eligible Marquis of Alverstoke had withstood the wiles of matchmaking mothers, conniving sisters and ambitious debutantes for too long to be ensnared by a managing miss. Yet once entagled with Miss Frederica Merrival, squite extraordinary family, the usually cool and restrained marquis began to feel most unusually out of control! And then he began to wonder if his prized bachelor status might not survive the next encounter. The rest will have to be found out.

Bread and Roses, Too
—Review by J. Parry
I enjoyed reading Bread and Roses, Too by Katherine Paterson. It is about the a labor strike in 1912. The two main characters are children that experience the strike in two different ways. One is a mill worker who is American born and is struggling to make ends meet. The other is an Italian-American girl who wants to go to school and hates what the strike is doing to her family. I would recommend this book to young adults. It is also a good book to read to help understand labor unions and strikes.

Lightning Thief
—Review by B. McCoy
Percy is going to a school and his Latin teacher teaches him about Greek Gods. His Latin teacher is half man half horse, he sits in his wheelchair to hide his legs. He goes to Camp Halfblood. He gets his mission. He goes--he has to go get Zeus' trident and then Hades bolt and the bolt gets lost. It turns out that Aries has them--he had stolen them. Percy meets his dad Poseidon and returns the Trident to Zeus and goes back and shows off. I thought it was cool because I liked the thought that Percy's dad was Posiedon. The most exciting part was when he met his Dad. After that I read the second book Sea Monsters.
